Faceted Candle Holder
Double up and spread the light with these reversible brass candleholders, inspired by the forms of traditional Alpine milking pails.
“As practical as a pocket knife.”
—Hochparterre
These candle holders can be used in two ways: the narrow end can fit a long taper, or flip it to place a tea light on the wider end.
Made from solid machined brass, the holders come in a set of varying heights—allowing you to layer your light at will.
Brass was chosen for its warmth, the edges faceted to create a blend between past and present, contemporary and antique.
The silhouettes were inspired by deconstructing the classic Fahreimer (Alpine milking pail), stripping it back to its essence. The result is a set of versatile and simple candleholders, modern and minimal, with sculptural beauty—intended to be just as delightful when not in use.
Appenzeller Handicrafts
Over the centuries, a distinct culture of handicrafts has blossomed in the region of Appenzell—shaped by the work and way of life.
One example of this is the craft of wood coopering. From the 18th century onwards, as a result of an economic up-turn due to the popularity of goat’s milk (said to be very beneficial to health), the herdsmen’s equipment was increasingly decorated with wood carvings. They became adornments to farming customs and traditions—and later collectors’ items.

The Alpine wood cooper uses fine, white maple and pine to create watertight Fahreimers (milking pails with decorated bottoms), butter churns, whey pails, bowls, butter boards and milk churns.
Both sizes accommodate tea lights or tapers.
