Limen Teapot
Limen is a handcrafted heirloom teapot—nuanced by the traditions of Swiss folk ceramics in Berneck. It can be tilted to the upright position to signify a polite way to ask for a refill.

The Limen teapot combines motifs from Chinese porcelain, techniques of Bernecker Bauernkeramik and organic forms—inspired by human gesture.
Limen’s kinetic silhouette unknowingly encourages a pour of your favorite tea. Rest assure, you’ll savor every last drop with its carefully designed spout.
In Chinese culture, lifting the lid of an empty teapot is the polite way of asking for a refill. Limen can be tilted to portray this empty state.
By definition, Limen is an icon—reflecting the contexts in which it was made—translating visual rumination. These cultural expressions come together and make an entity that cannot fully exist, solely in one culture or as a hybrid of many. Instead, Limen celebrates the cultures—honoring the traditional earthenware from Berneck, Switzerland and cultivation of tea from Asia.
Bernecker Bauernkeramik
Berneck has been home to countless handicrafts in Switzerland for hundreds of years—most notable for their brilliant ornately decorated ceramics.
In peasant ceramics, the surface is refined with an engobe—a clay slip colored with metal oxides. Unique patterns are then applied to the various pieces, not by using a brush, but with a Malhörnchen (cow horn).

Excavations on the Montlinger Bergli revealed that the first inhabitants understood how to shape, burn and even decorate vessels—over three thousand years ago.
Berneck’s peasant-style pottery is as old as the settlement of the Rhine Valley.
The area’s lake and marshland was the perfect environment for clay. This raw material was mixed with water to a pulp—screened free of impurities, and passed into sludge tanks. The clay would then dry in the fresh air and mature inside a cellar during the winter months.
Each stoneware teapot is handmade.
