Swissness with a Global Touch

The furniture manufacturer Seitz has long been rooted in Eastern Switzerland, since 1795 to be precise

Now a scion of the family, who has settled in Brooklyn, New York, has brought a breath of fresh air to the long-established company. Together with the art director Rob van Wyen, Kevin Seitz has developed a small but fine interiors collection. In addition to a bench and chest of drawers, there is also a low board with dog bowls, a lamp and a porcelain tea set. All designs are based on traditional products whose design language has been modernized, but which are still handcrafted using conventional methods in Eastern Switzerland. The chest of drawers, for example, is made of solid ash, either natural or stained black. The brass handles, which are individually stamped by hand in an Appenzell factory, are a nice detail.
