FIG 1.

The Helm Armchair's character knows no boundaries. Every side belongs to the room.

Each solid leg continues, uninterrupted, the full height of the frame.

FIG 3.

A lumbar cushion sits where needed. Soft folds follow. Order remains.

Timeless architecture outlives its original purpose. Since 1791, Zürich's Helmhaus has served many lives—from wartime food storage to today's cultural institution. Its purpose has evolved. Its presence has remained.

THE STRUCTURE
OF PRESENCE

Origin

The Helmhaus is shaped by structural rhythm. Repeating buttresses establish a measured cadence across its façade, while softly arched openings temper its solidity. Ornament gives way to proportion, creating a building whose presence comes from its structure.

Evolution

Helm is a study in reduction. Rhythm, proportion, and structure carry forward. Architectural relationships remain intact, allowing familiar qualities to emerge through the rhythm of the spindles, softly arched legs, and a measured sense of balance.
